REACH Me Project

Reach Me Project aimed to work among persons affected by leprosy, Lymphatic Filariasis, and persons with Disability. Besides this communal development in leprosy colonies of Andhra Pradesh state and strengthening of SLAP AP are the other core components of this project.

Brighter Future implementing ‘Reach Me Project ‘in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam & East Godavari, West Godavari(5)districts of Andhra Pradesh State and Ganjam Dist of Odisha State and all the Leprosy colonies of Andhra Pradesh State. The organization has a rapport with all the colony leaders and also with the state-level organization leaders of SLAP AP (Society for Leprosy Affected Persons of Andhra Pradesh State). Disability Rights through networking, Leprosy Colony Development project, implemented by the Brighter Future gained the experience for advocacy on Leprosy and other disability human rights issues. Presently we have average basic knowledge of Filaria. All the staff for the ‘Reach ME’ are qualified and trained and have vast experience in Leprosy. Capacity building to staff imparted during the initial stage of the project period on Filaria and advocacy aspects. All the staff were re-oriented on Leprosy.

The Reach Me Project intends to work on following services to persons affected with Leprosy and Lymphatic Filariasis

•    Morbidity management and prevention of disability through the Integrated Prevention of disability camps.

•    Mapping disease burden through line listing to assess the situation for Leprosy and LF in accordance with District NLEP and Distinct Filariasis Unit.

•    Work with Grass root level health staff (ASHA) for referral linkages.

•    Efforts for the psychological and emotional wellbeing of people affected by Leprosy and Filaria by CSO formations, capacity buildings and encouraging them for inclusion.

•    Strengthen SLAP AP as a state-level organization.

•    Advocate for progress on EDPAL Bill 256.

•    Empowerment of People living in the Leprosy colonies of Andhra Pradesh State.

•    Establishing linkages with Self Help Groups to avail Bank loans, Government loans and NGOs SHG loans for their livelihoods.

•   Address on  inner wellbeing.

•    Advocacy for the people affected by leprosy, disability, and Filaria.
