Sunshine Mother’s Home is for women who are thrown out from their families due to any reason or HIV pregnant women, or aged women. They reside in the home and get some emotional, Psychological, and Nutritional Support. To diversion their past sad moments, we will engage them in some work like helping in the kitchen, gardening, cutting vegetables, looking after chickens and cattle, growing vegetables, looking after children, etc. By this work, they can easily concentrate on their work and slowly they can forget the tragic past that they came through. In the campus of Shanti Nivas a mother’s home was constructed by Brighter Future.
In the Mother’s Home, a total of 10 mothers residing are women with HIV/AIDS. In case of any illness they take treatment in the Hospice once they get well, they come back to the mother’s Home.
Their opinion
“We faced so much discrimination by our in-laws and families after we got infected with HIV/AIDS this is the curse, we were thrown out of our house and abused by our communities but we never thought that we would be accepted by Brighter Future and we are so happy that we are staying like a family working together and living together we are very thankful to Brighter Future”
Now the mothers are living happily with each other in the home and doing work on the campus like a big family. They come forward to share in the following daily routine activities.
Working in the Kitchen:
As per their schedules, they help the cook in the main kitchen. One mother works full time and others share when work is more in the kitchen. They cut onions vegetables, and clean the vessels after cooking.
Working with Home mothers and children:
Some mothers used to work at Homes for TDF children. They help the small children in their daily routine activities such as washing clothes, bathing, combing their hair, etc. As they mingle with the children very closely- they love the children with special intentions. The children also expect love and affection from the Mothers
Working at Cow Shed:
As they are residents of rural villages they like to work at Cow Shed, cleaning and washing the cows and calves and feeding the animals, along with the regular staff at Cow Shed.
Working at Vegetable Garden:
The Mothers like to work in the vegetable Garden along with the Plot leaders and children of that particular Veg-Fields. As they knew the basic things in culturing and growing procedures, definitely we accepted their pieces of advice and guidance in this area. They help in the Vegetable Garden by watering, putting organic manures and cow dung, removing weeds, plucking vegetables from plants, etc.
Their entertainment:
Their main entertainment is watching TV, while they are free. Only a few people can read books and write very limited/necessary things. The management has provided the Dish TV (Direct to Homes) facility and they pay the monthly subscription. They have an FM radio facility by which they listen to songs and speeches (Audio) by this they are leading happy, peaceful, and tensionless lives without any, major problems.
